Penang - The Pearl of the Orient

Penang, the second smallest state in Malaysia, is famous among foreign tourists for its stunning beaches. Often known as the “Pear of the Orient,” Penang is the paradise for the tourists who want to enjoy food, shopping, relaxed life and vibrant nightlife. The colonial architecture and the colonial villas of the city are really impressive and distinctive in their style. While strolling around the city of Penang, travelers can get a glimpse of the heritage of the city.

If you are staying on your one of the holidays in Penang, the food served is unique. Penang is often named as the food capital of Malaysia. Penang’s cuisine has the influence of Chinese, Nyonya, Malay, Thai and most significantly of Thai cuisine. TIME magazine had remarked in 2004 as the city having the Best Street Food. “Hawker food” which is sold outside features noodles and fresh sea-food is cheap and also tasty. Tourists can make a point of tasting the “hawker food.”

So on your visits to Penang, apart from relaxing in the beaches, also take the pleasure to stop the Snake Temple, Penang Bird Park, Fort Cornwallis, Pantai Acheh Forest Reserve and many more.
